I know that in polite company one should not discuss Politics or Religion for fear of offending others. However, over the last few days I was struck by a couple of stories that go beyond party allegiances or religious beliefs, and thus not embargoed by said conventions.

Chartwell

We are blessed in Britain to have many great stately homes, but for me most are mausoleums, that whilst grand are not what one would ever dream to live in. Such cannot be said of Chartwell, the principle home of Sir Winston Churchill in his adult life. Chartwell was gifted to the Nation in 1965 shortly after the death of the former Prime Minister.
