Korea (Part 2)

Another day, another story. Family, friends and loyal readers, I cannot explain quite how much fun I am having in Seoul. As my time here continues I am learning more of Korean culture, the important emphasis placed upon trust and Social brothers and sisters. It is unlike anything you may have seen of or heard about in the West, but it is of high importance in Korea. For to be a Social brother, there is an innate trust between us in life, work and business, and whereas business in the west is required to operate under the constraints of contracts and formalities, within Korea mutual trust between 'brothers' creates stronger bonds than any contract. Fascinating.

Korea (Part 1)

When travelling and indeed when trying new things, we are advised to keep an open mind, and whilst many may say that such is easy, I believe all experiences in life are case specific. Nevertheless, experience of previous travels has informed me not to prejudge or on the reverse, fantasize about cities, I have learned to wait to see and then make judgement thereafter. However, before my journey to Seoul I had already decided; it was not thus a case of whether I would like it or dislike the city, but rather how much I would love it and how difficult it would be for me to return home. Throughout my childhood, I have heard stories of my father's many visits to Korea, and consequently I have read about the country's culture. I began my adventure convinced that I was about to have a memorable few weeks.

My Day at the Canadian Grand Prix

It is interesting that prior to spending a year studying in Canada, I was not conscious of the cities of Canada featuring in issues of global scale and importance, not in the same way as say Hong Kong, New York or London.
