As we approach the Silverstone weekend, it is interesting to note just how fabulously successful British Formula 1 teams and drivers remain.

Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are currently leading the championship, driving for the British team McLaren. The Brits are quick to bemoan the lack of engineering in Britain, but in reality, British engineers still produce some great innovation and technical brilliance.

F1 is a great British success story, and with a little good fortune this weekend a British driver will be take the top spot on the podium.
