Why I deny the Atkins diet?

October 27, 2011 | Article Posted By - Abby, london

I will say I never met a specific description of the biochemical mechanism of the diet. The author wants to convince us that the exclusion of carbohydrates and the prevalence of protein and fatty food will alter the metabolism will cause that condition when the body starts to draw energy from its own stocks. But the formation of ketone bodies, which the doctor said, will be in starvation, and protein starvation. This is a standard response to every body carbohydrate restriction. But the calorific value of this diet is quite high - from 2000 to 3000 Kcal per day.

Honorable dietitian forgot to explain how it is possible in the first stage of the diet to get 15-20 grams of fiber a day, without limiting the use of mayonnaise, butter, fatty meat. By proponents of this system is required to meticulously calculate the amount of carbohydrates in all products, not to exceed the norm. But I think you will in any case exceed that standard. We can not always control the composition of this or that food. For example in mayonnaise carbohydrates are not small, but just do not count.
